KBS 2TV's new weekend drama Love Is Coming is raising expectations by confirming the addition of veteran actors with proven acting ability. With Kwon Hae-hyo, Yoon Yoo-sun, Ryu Seung-soo and Jin Kyung joining the cast, the series is positioning itself as a family drama built around performers capable of carrying complex emotional storylines.
Scheduled to premiere in July, Love Is Coming follows two men and women as they reconnect the scattered pieces of a family broken apart by wounds and search for the warm meaning of life. Earlier casting news had already named Ha Seok-jin, Ahn Hee-yeon, Park Yoo-na, Bae Jung-nam, Bae Yoon-kyu, Jeong Bo-min, Lee Joo-yeon and Min Jin-woong. The newly announced additions of Kwon Hae-hyo, Yoon Yoo-sun, Ryu Seung-soo and Jin Kyung give the lineup added weight and complete a broader ensemble across generations.
Kwon Hae-hyo will meet viewers as Jang Hoon-tae, the chairman of a fashion company. Jang grew up in a wealthy environment and established himself as a successful businessman. After losing his wife before him, he goes through a period of wandering, but finds stability in life again when he remarries Go Yoon-hee, a woman he first came to know as a housekeeper. Above all, he is a character defined by deep affection for his daughter, and Kwon is expected to show both sides of him at once: a successful executive and a tender father.
Yoon Yoo-sun plays Go Yoon-hee, the mother of three siblings. In the past, because of a unilateral decision made by her husband Han Seok-jung, she was forced to separate from her children. She later works as a housekeeper in Jang Hoon-tae's home and begins a new life through remarriage. Even so, a longing for her children and a sense of guilt remain in one corner of her heart. Yoon is set to portray, with delicacy, the complicated emotions of a woman shaken between motherhood and remorse.
Ryu Seung-soo takes on the role of Han Seok-jung, the head of the Han family and another key axis of the story. Han is a man more accustomed to avoiding responsibility than taking it after causing trouble. After parting ways with his first wife, he builds a new family, but even after losing everything, he continues to dream of turning his life around. Han Seok-jung's optimistic yet sloppy personality is expected to bring vitality to the drama through Ryu's grounded, everyday style of acting.
Jin Kyung transforms into Hong Ok-sun, the mother of Kim Mu-jin. Hong is both a strong leader who heads a major company and a mother who keeps a deep, affectionate heart for her son. She comes into conflict with him because he loves a woman from a different environment. Outwardly cold and clear-headed, yet inwardly carrying a longing for her son, Hong Ok-sun is expected to reveal layered emotions through Jin's deep performance.
The production team said, "Actors Kwon Hae-hyo, Yoon Yoo-sun, Ryu Seung-soo and Jin Kyung will serve as central pillars of the work and add depth to the story." The team added, "The acting of the veteran performers and the energy of the younger actors will come together to deliver empathy and emotion."
Love Is Coming brings together director Hong Seok-gu, who directed Queen's House, Beauty and Mr. Romantic and My Only One, with writer Lee Kyung-hee, who wrote Uncontrollably Fond, The Innocent Man and I'm Sorry, I Love You. The drama will air in July as the follow-up to We Prescribe Love for You.
Attention is now turning to how Love Is Coming will portray wounds within a family, reconciliation and the meaning of love, and how it will build a sense of empathy that can reach across generations.
