Han Jung-soo urges whistleblower to reveal identity in Hwang Jung-min dispute

Actor Han Jung-soo has publicly challenged whistleblower "A" regarding privacy allegations surrounding actor Hwang Jung-min. Han argued that it is unfair for public opinion to shift based solely on one side's claims before the facts have been legally established.

On the 8th, Han addressed the controversy involving Hwang on his SNS, stating, “This is too much of an unfair game. Right now, the only one 100% suffering is senior Hwang Jung-min.”

He continued, “If you are innocent, I hope the whistleblower(?) does not hide behind the scenes and reveals their full identity before proceeding.” He raised concerns regarding the practice of exposing a celebrity's real name and private life while maintaining anonymity.

Han also highlighted the structural disadvantages faced by entertainers.

“In fact, most cases are like this. Even when a verdict is eventually reached, the only side that suffers is the one whose face is known. It is so unfair and infuriating,” he wrote.

He expressed his frustration by adding hashtags such as "#CelebritiesAreEasyTargets" and "#Anger."

The controversy surrounding Hwang began late last month when "A" raised claims via SNS. Claiming to have had a private relationship with Hwang, "A" has been successively releasing messages and call recordings they claim were exchanged between the two.

Conversely, Hwang's side has directly refuted the claims, identifying "A" as a suspect in a stalking crime who has continuously harassed him.

According to Hwang's representatives, the court has issued provisional measures, such as restraining orders, against "A" three times. Subsequently, a summary order for a 3 million won fine was issued after stalking charges were recognized.

"A" has appealed this decision and requested a formal trial. Simultaneously, "A" is known to have filed a damages lawsuit against Hwang worth 200 million won.

"A" continues the dispute by releasing additional recordings and conversation logs on SNS, claiming they were shared with Hwang.

However, both the content released by "A" and the refutations from Hwang's side are tied to matters currently undergoing legal judgment. Therefore, it is difficult to conclude that the claims of either side are facts based solely on the released materials.

Ultimately, the core of this controversy extends beyond a simple battle of public opinion over who is right. It touches upon the question of what the public should accept as fact when an anonymous individual exposes a celebrity's private life, and whether celebrities must endure unilateral criticism simply due to their status.

Han's remarks are interpreted as highlighting this "imbalance of information and responsibility." Voices are growing that both the exposures and the refutations must be viewed with caution until the facts are legally determined.
