SHIN JI denies jaw surgery rumors, citing dental issues and weight loss

SHIN JI has directly addressed rumors of jaw surgery that surfaced following her weight loss. Going beyond a simple explanation, she even released her X-rays, emphasizing, "I did not undergo jaw surgery that involves touching the bone."

On the 19th, SHIN JI released a video on her YouTube channel titled 'The stories you were very curious about, I will tell you now,' where she spoke candidly about various speculations surrounding her recent changes in appearance.

In the video, SHIN JI began by explaining that she started dental treatment during her break from YouTube activities, stating, "It is a jaw joint issue, but some people are misunderstanding it as jaw surgery."

She explained that she previously underwent treatment to raise her molars due to jaw joint problems. SHIN JI said, "The situation was that the molars were raised so that my jaw wouldn't be pushed back. Because I couldn't bite through food properly, I increased the length of my teeth, but many people commented that it didn't look good."

She went on to provide a specific explanation for why her mouth shape changed, saying, "As I gradually ground down the top and bottom of my teeth, the molars actually became higher, making it look uncomfortable when I closed my mouth."

She admitted that even she felt the change was awkward.

"Even to me, I thought, 'Why does SHIN JI's mouth look like that?'" SHIN JI revealed. "So, I visited the dentist to lower the raised molars a bit and create new teeth."

A dental specialist also added an explanation regarding SHIN JI's oral structure. The specialist explained that due to jaw joint issues, SHIN JI had an open bite structure where her teeth did not close properly, which must have caused significant difficulty in singing as a vocalist.

SHIN JI also shared her honest feelings regarding the background of why her appearance changes were misunderstood as jaw surgery.

Making a joke, she said, "It was actually somewhat proud to think that people thought we performed jaw surgery with such simple techniques, since we aren't even surgeons," before drawing a line by stating, "I am absolutely not someone who touches the bone. I only had prosthetic dental treatment."

She also explained why her facial impression changed after the dental treatment.

"As I closed the open bite, my face changed from a cute image to a mature image," SHIN JI said. "The reason closing my mouth feels awkward is that there are muscles I have used for over 40 years, but because the position of the jaw joint has changed, the muscles are not used to it."

She added, "It takes one to two years to get used to it."

In particular, SHIN JI released her X-rays showing no traces of jaw surgery to support her explanation. Her intention was to directly correct the situation where speculations that her appearance change was due to surgery were becoming solidified as fact online.

"Isn't my image usually a chubby and cute one? I am already in my 28th year since debut," SHIN JI said. "There is the passage of time, I lost weight, and combined with the dental treatment, I think people misunderstood me like that."

She confessed, "I didn't even think that people could misunderstand me, but before I knew it, it had become an established fact. There were even mentions of jaw surgery side effects, so I wanted to resolve those misunderstandings."
