Bae Da-hae and Lee Jang-won share honest journey toward having a second child
Singer Bae Da-hae and Peppertones member Lee Jang-won open up about IVF and their desire to welcome a baby following a past miscarriage.
Singer and musical actress Bae Da-hae and Peppertones member Lee Jang-won revealed that the couple is once again embarking on the journey to have a second child, overcoming the pain of a past miscarriage. By sharing their honest experiences with the IVF process and pregnancy preparations, they drew empathy from viewers with their sincere wishes for a family.

In the SBS variety program 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny' broadcast on the 21st, the daily lives of the couple, who have been living with Lee's great-grandfather for about five months, were revealed. The broadcast captured warm daily moments focused on the emotional bonds and intergenerational connection between family members.
During the episode, Bae showed her caring side by carefully preparing breakfast for her great-grandfather and looking after him through meals and conversation. Her natural interaction, such as being a companion to him beyond simple daily care, provided a quiet sense of emotion to viewers. Lee and Bae showed the image of an affectionate grandchild couple in front of the great-grandfather, while revealing the affection of a newlywed couple during their private time, creating a heartwarming atmosphere.
The scene that garnered the most interest was the moment the couple candidly discussed their plans for a second child. Recalling the great-grandfather's heart as he waits for a great-grandchild, Bae said, "While eating out together, we saw a baby, and both the grandfather and I couldn't take our eyes off it for a long time."
She continued, "When I told him we are trying to have a baby again, he told me he is always praying. I think it would be truly meaningful if we could hold a baby while the grandfather is still healthy."
Lee shared the same sentiment as his wife, saying, "If we do have a child, I definitely want to show them to grandfather." The couple's wish extended beyond mere childbirth to a desire to share family time, leaving a deep impression on viewers.
Bae previously received much support by publicly disclosing that she experienced a miscarriage in 2024 due to chromosomal abnormalities. Since then, she has shared the process of undergoing IVF without concealment, honestly revealing the realistic difficulties and psychological burdens surrounding infertility treatment.
Last July, through her personal channel, she stated, "While undergoing IVF, my weight increased by about 7kg, but I am trying not to get stressed. I think it is more important to have peace of mind and prepare slowly rather than being recklessly impatient." Her attitude of naturally accepting the physical changes and emotional burdens experienced during the treatment process gained much empathy.
Medically, IVF (In Vitro Fertilization) is used as an important assisted reproductive technology for couples who have difficulty conceiving naturally, involving several stages such as hormone administration, egg retrieval, and embryo transfer. As the physical fatigue and psychological burden are significant during this process, medical professionals emphasize sufficient rest and emotional support from the family as crucial elements.
Recently, as cases of celebrities publicly speaking about infertility treatment and miscarriage experiences increase, related social discourse is expanding. It is evaluated that as the process of pregnancy and childbirth, once considered a purely private matter, expands into a subject for empathy and information sharing, social perceptions of infertility and miscarriage are also gradually changing.
After graduating from Yonsei University with a major in vocal music, Bae became known to the public after her outstanding singing ability was recognized through KBS2's 'Qualifications of a Man' in 2010. Since then, she has solidified her position as a musical actress through various works such as the musicals 'Sherlock Holmes' and 'Arsène Lupin,' while Lee has continued his steady musical activities as a member of the band Peppertones.
The two have received much love since marrying in 2021 by revealing their natural and warm daily lives as a couple through broadcasts and SNS. Recently, they have continued their new challenge amidst the support of viewers by sharing the value of living with family and their sincere stories toward having a second child.
