Dissociative Identity Disorder: 'I gave up on surgery to live as I am'
A guest from 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller' returns after a year, revealing how she overcame identity struggles to become an entrepreneur.
A guest who drew significant attention on 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller' by opening up about her gender identity and multiple personalities has reappeared about a year later to share her life update. Unlike her past self, who was lost in confusion, she has now stood at a new starting line as an entrepreneur managing her own life.

In the 'Recent Status Special' episode of KBS Joy's 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller' aired on the 10th, former guests returned to the studio to reveal how their lives have changed since their initial appearances.
The guest appearing this day is the same individual who previously garnered viewers' interest by revealing she suffered from Dissociative Identity Disorder and experienced confusion between various personalities. At that time, she drew great attention by sharing her deep struggles regarding her identity due to different personalities and her considerations regarding breast plastic surgery and hormone replacement therapy.
Appearing again after about a year, the guest had a much brighter expression than before. Above all, the biggest change in her life was the decision she made regarding her body and identity.
She revealed that the support poured in by viewers following her broadcast served as the catalyst for changing her mind. Encountering warm comments and encouragement led her to reflect on herself, and she ultimately shared that she gave up on breast surgery and stopped hormone replacement therapy.
It wasn't just about stopping physical changes. She stated that she worked fiercely to manage her life independently after the broadcast, and she is currently living a new life as an entrepreneur running a 'Health Stay'—a business model that combines a gym with a pension.
While she was once buried in the confusion surrounding herself, she now appears to be moving forward by accepting her situation as a condition of her life.
Of course, not all worries have vanished.
The guest revealed that test results confirmed she still possesses 5 to 7 personalities. She also confessed that she still carries the fear that her memories might disappear if another personality emerges.
Nevertheless, what has changed from the past is that rather than unconditionally denying or fearing her situation, she hopes that the people around her will accept her as she is. While explaining her complex inner self, she honestly revealed her desire to be understood rather than hiding it.
In a broadcast last year, she had disclosed her diagnosis of Dissociative Identity Disorder, stating, "My current name is Kang-soon. I have Dissociative Identity Disorder, so I have 3 personalities truly."
The changes that occurred for her during the one-year period hold more meaning than just a simple update. While she once wavered before choices surrounding her identity and body, she is now deciding her own life's direction and building her daily life amidst the gaze and support of others.
Although concerns to be resolved still remain, at least she is no longer putting her life on hold. Her reappearance on 'Ask Us Anything Fortune Teller' was not a place to repeat past stories, but a time that showed the process of a person rebuilding their life in their own way even amidst confusion.
