Jung Sun-Hee recalls father's business failures: 'Mom left me romance'

Broadcaster Jung Sun-Hee shared a heartfelt story, recalling a life spent paying off debts for over 10 years due to her father's repeated business failures, and the sense of 'romance' that kept her family resilient.

On the 27th, a video titled 'Jung Sun-Hee and Moon Chun-sik Legend Real Siblings Moment' was released on the YouTube channel 'Zzanbro Shin Dong-yup'.

During the session, Shin Dong-yup reminisced about Jung's childhood, noting, "I know your father was a wonderful person, but his business didn't go well."

To this, Jung calmly replied, "My dad's business failed frequently."

Shin noted, "Sun-Hee worked hard to pay off the debts her father left behind. I remember hearing that after clearing all the debts, she went on a trip to Jeju Island with her mother, and they both cried uncontrollably because they were so happy."

Jung revealed the long reality she faced, stating, "I paid off debts for more than 10 years."

However, she cited 'romance' rather than money as her most precious inheritance.

"Of all the things my mother left me, the thing I am most grateful for is romance," Jung recalled. "Our home was always plagued by debt, but my mother would take us to the mountain behind our house to take photos with a disposable camera, and the three of us would laugh while catching butterflies with just one bag of snacks. That was our family's happiness."

She also shared memories of times so difficult that the family had to scatter.

"When my father's business completely collapsed, we had no money, so the family had to live scattered in different places," she said. "There were many times I had to walk two and a half hours from Junggye-dong to our house because I didn't even have bus fare."

She continued with a smile, "But strangely enough, the time spent walking down paths with falling flower petals while listening to music through my Walkman was so happy. The romance I learned then became the formula that allowed me to endure my life afterward."

She added that this mindset did not change even when she faced economic difficulties again after her father passed away.

"Recently, I incurred another debt due to matters regarding my father, but ultimately, that law of romance picked me up again," Jung confessed.

She also mentioned, "Even now, my mother and I clash a lot. An older daughter and her mother are always fighting for dominance. But even so, what keeps the two of us connected until the end is love and romance."

She added, "Even though we both went through so many storms, I find myself thinking, 'How is it that we haven't lost our romance like this?'"

Hearing this, Shin expressed deep emotion, saying, "Your mother is truly an amazing person. She protected her children so they could grow up without being embittered, even in such a difficult environment."
