Koo Hyesun Reveals Fainting in Bathroom Due to Anaphylactic Shock: 'Found via My Hair'

Appearing on MBN's 'Kim Ju-ha's Day and Night' on the 18th, Ku shared the emergency situation she faced during a drama shoot and how the experience fundamentally changed her values regarding life.

"I have fainted about twice during filming," Ku said. "I collapsed in the bathroom, and a sanitation worker noticed something unusual because of my hair and discovered me."

She then revealed her complicated feelings just before losing consciousness, saying, "At that moment, my first thought was that I hoped no one would open the door."

Ku explained that receiving emergency treatment led her to think deeply about human dignity.

"I later wrote a poem about 'panties,' but in the end, it was a story about dignity," she said. "When cardiac arrest occurs on the street, clothes are sometimes cut with scissors to provide emergency treatment. I, too, received treatment with all my clothes removed at the time."

She continued, "There might be people who do not want to be exposed in front of many people. As I thought, 'I shouldn't die here,' I began to think seriously about human dignity."

She also shared her experiences regarding food allergies.

"I work to make a living, but it was so difficult living while being unable to actually eat," Ku said. "When I thought about the food I wanted to eat most before dying, it was marinated crab (gejang)."

She surprised the cast by revealing, "I even prepared allergy medication and ate the marinated crab with the mindset of 'let's eat and die.' But miraculously, no symptoms appeared, and I became fine after that."

However, anaphylaxis is a severe allergic reaction that can be life-threatening if re-exposed to the causative substance. Even if symptoms have improved, it can be extremely dangerous to arbitrarily consume allergy-inducing foods. An individual's experience does not apply to all cases, and those with a history of allergies must manage their condition under the guidance of a specialist.
