Actress Lee Mi-young Reveals Trauma from Industrial-Grade Lip Filler Procedure

On the 14th, during MBN's overcoming story 'While You Were Hurting,' actress Lee Mi-young shared the pain she experienced due to side effects from a past lip procedure.

Lee Mi-young began her story by saying, "This is the first time I am confessing the story about my lips on broadcast. I want to speak out now. I want to tell you how much hardship I went through."

She mentioned that she had previously been at the center of controversy due to her noticeably changed lips, stating, "My lips have been thick since I was young. Everyone in my family has thick lips. In my 30s, juniors told me that if my lips were just a bit thicker, it would look very sexy. At that time, things like lip fillers weren't as common as they are nowadays."

She continued with the unfortunate tale, "I was introduced to an expert from the United States. They said my lips would look beautiful if I had a procedure and that the injected substance would eventually leave the body through urine, so I thought, 'Let's try it.' In the end, however, it did not leave."

She revealed the medical malpractice, saying, "At the time, I received fillers containing industrial-grade substances rather than medical-grade ones. Thinking it was fine, I received two injections. They should have been injected in the center of my lips, but they were injected on both sides, causing my lips to flip/invert."

She shared that as her lips inverted due to the side effects, she suffered from malicious comments every time she appeared in a drama. "People went wild, asking, 'Why are your lips flipped?' Not only that, but my drama casting opportunities dried up. I endured all kinds of insults and accumulated immense stress. It was a once-in-a-lifetime massive mistake for me. The price of the procedure was too high," she lamented.

She continued, "Because I am easily swayed, I got the injections to become prettier, but it turned out so bad that I underwent two surgeries to regain my original appearance. However, because my lips were thin and had many concentrated blood vessels, even the removal surgery was not easy. The problem was that it was difficult to fully recover to my original state. Still, I am satisfied now. I went through so much suffering. Now, I have scraped everything away, so these are my lips," she said, composing her heart.

She concluded by asking people not to leave malicious comments: "I struggled so much in the past because of hate comments, and I am revealing this after a big decision. I lived with so much regret. Now that I have scraped it all away, these are my lips. Please do not misunderstand and view me beautifully."
