The Odyssey surpasses 11 million viewers, nears top 5 all-time foreign films
Christopher Nolan's The Odyssey hits 11 million viewers in Korea, closing the gap with Avengers: Infinity War for a spot in the all-time top 5.
Christopher Nolan's film 'The Odyssey' has surpassed 11 million viewers in cumulative admissions just 45 days after its release.

Distributor Universal Pictures announced on the morning of the 18th that 'The Odyssey' has exceeded the 11 million mark. This marks the sixth time a foreign film released in Korea has surpassed 11 million viewers.
According to all-time foreign film box office records, 'Avengers: Endgame' holds the top spot with approximately 13.93 million viewers, followed by 'Frozen II' with approximately 13.74 million, 'Avatar' with approximately 13.62 million, and 'Aladdin' with approximately 12.55 million. The fifth-place film, 'Avengers: Infinity War', recorded approximately 11.21 million.
'The Odyssey' has now narrowed the gap with 'Avengers: Infinity War' to the 200,000 range, eyeing a move into the fifth spot in the all-time foreign film rankings.
The film depicts the journey of Odysseus (Matt Damon) as he attempts to return to his homeland following his victory in the Trojan War. Based on Homer's epic poem 'The Odyssey', Nolan filmed the entire production using IMAX film cameras to bring the grand world of Greek mythology to the screen.
Released on the 5th of last month, 'The Odyssey' is the second film this year to surpass 10 million viewers, following 'The King's Warden'. After holding the top spot at the daily box office for 42 consecutive days, it lost the number one position for the first time on the 16th to 'Intern', starring Choi Min-sik.
However, the film continues to lead in ticket reservation rates. As of 12:30 PM today, 'The Odyssey' holds a 21.6% reservation rate, outpacing 'The Assassin(s)' (17.2%), which opens on the 23rd, and 'Intern' (15.1%). With approximately 127,000 reserved tickets tallied, significant interest remains focused on its future box office milestones.
