The mystery thriller film 'The Eyes', starring actress Shin Min-a, is continuing its box office momentum by reaching the top spot in its second week of release. Recording a more stable influx of viewers compared to the early stages of its release, the film is showing signs that the word-of-mouth effect typical of genre films is fully kicking in.

According to the Korean Film Council's integrated computer network for film ticket sales on the 3rd, 'The Eyes' recorded No. 1 at the box office by drawing 50,724 viewers on the 2nd alone. It maintained its top position for two consecutive days following the 1st, and since its release on June 24, the cumulative number of viewers has been tallied at 482,861.

'The Eyes' is a mystery thriller that depicts the story of the protagonist Seo-jin, who is losing her sight due to a genetic disease, as she faces unexpected truths while investigating suspicions surrounding the death of her twin sibling. Shin Min-a took on the challenge of playing dual roles as both Seo-jin and her sibling Seo-in, while actor Kim Nam-hee leads the tension of the film as Detective Do-hyeok, who tracks the reality of the case.

Director Yeom Ji-ho, who handled the direction, reinterpreted the Spanish film 'Julia's Eyes' to suit Korean sentiments, enhancing realism and implementing the grammar of classic thrillers through direction that maximizes suspense. Furthermore, the film is being evaluated as having increased its cinematic perfection by placing scenes throughout that homage to the directing techniques of genre masters such as Alfred Hitchcock and Stanley Kubrick.

While audience reactions were somewhat mixed during the early release period with evaluations that the plot was relatively predictable, positive reviews regarding the meticulous narrative structure, the stable acting of the actors, and the tense direction are spreading as time passes. In particular, Shin Min-a's dual role performance and Kim Nam-hee's realistic character portrayal are cited as key elements that increase the immersion of the work.

Audience satisfaction is also showing a stable trend. The CGV Golden Egg Index is recording 89 points, and it was found that the audience in their 20s accounts for the highest proportion of viewers.
