IU Donates 300 Million Won for Birthday

Singer and actress IU donated a total of 300 million won in celebration of her birthday.

Her agency, EDAM Entertainment, announced on the 16th, "In celebration of her birthday, IU donated a total of 300 million won under the name 'IUayena' (a combination of IU and her official fandom name, IUayena)."

Of the donation, 100 million won was given to Asan Medical Center, while 50 million won each was delivered to 'Children Walking Together,' 'Milk Delivery Asking After the Elderly,' the Korea Unmarried Mothers Family Association, and 'Warm Companionship.' The funds will be used for practical support for various groups, including assistance for patients facing financial difficulties, education and cultural support for children and adolescents, care for elderly living alone, support for vulnerable single-mother families, and advanced assistive devices for people with disabilities.

IU has been consistently donating under the name 'IUayena' on meaningful occasions such as her debut anniversary, birthday, and the year-end holidays. On Children's Day on the 5th, she also donated 100 million won for children and adolescents and sent handwritten letters and gifts to young fellow actors she met through her projects.

In March last year, she donated 200 million won to support wildfire damage relief in the Gyeongsang region and to improve conditions for firefighters. On Children's Day, she donated 150 million won for children and adolescents. She has also donated 200 million won on her birthday and debut anniversary, and 200 million won at the end of the year.

IU is currently playing the role of Seong Hee-joo in the MBC Fri-Sat drama '21st Century Grand Duchess.'
