IU returns to the stage at 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards

Singer and actress IU appeared in public for the first time in 10 days after temporarily halting her activities due to health issues. At the moment she stood before the public—having chosen to prioritize her physical well-being over a perfect stage—what fans focused on was not a flashy comeback, but her unchanging smile and calm demeanor.

On the 31st, IU took the stage as a presenter for Best Actor alongside actor Ju Ji-hoon at the 5th Blue Dragon Series Awards, which was broadcast live on KBS 2TV.

Appearing as a presenter that day, IU recalled her memories of last year's win, saying, "I thought I wouldn't be nervous today, but standing here makes my heart pound as I think back to last year."

She continued by reflecting on her musical and acting career, stating, "I lived this year very hard, fueled by the strength of the award I received last year." Her characteristic calm tone and warm smile brought joy to fans who had been concerned by the news of her health-related hiatus.

In particular, this stage marked IU's first appearance at an official event since she briefly suspended activities for health reasons. Previously, her agency EDAM Entertainment announced on the 20th that IU's chronic patulous Eustachian tube symptoms had worsened, leading to the postponement of her Goyang Stadium concert scheduled for September, subsequent performance schedules, and plans for her 6th full-length album.

IU also explained her condition directly through her fan platform.

She shared, "I think I pushed myself too hard out of greed for work without considering my condition for several years," adding, "I heard from experts that performing for the time being would be too much."

Because IU has simultaneously handled numerous performances, filming, and musical works, this decision to halt activities was deeply significant to her fans. It was because a star who has always maintained her position with responsibility and sincerity made the choice to 'stop' for the first time.

At the time, IU soothed fans' worries by promising, "I will focus on treatment and return in a healthy state as quickly as possible."
