S.E.S. Shu Reveals 4-Year Separation from Husband: 'Not Divorced, Our Relationship Has Improved'

Shu, a member of the group S.E.S., has revealed that she has been living separately from her husband, former basketball player Lim Hyo-sung, for four years, candidly explaining the background behind the decision.

During the broadcast of the MBN variety program 'Sokpuri Show Dongchimi' on the 4th, Shu directly explained her current married life through the theme, 'I chose separation instead of divorce to live as myself.'

After stating, "We are in our fourth year of separation," Shu mentioned that changes in the family composition were one of the reasons for deciding to live apart.

She explained the situation at the time, saying, "At that time, the house had a room used by the whole family, my room, a dressing room, and my husband's room. But as my eldest son entered middle school, it was necessary to separate his room from the twin daughters' room." She added, "The children also started raising three parrots, so we needed a space for the birds as well."

She continued, "As it happened, I heard my husband would be living in a different province, so I immediately contacted a moving company," and shared, "We converted my husband's room into the eldest child's room."

She revealed that Lim Hyo-sung currently lives in a separate house within the same living area, and that contact between family members continues regularly.

"My husband lives separately but comes home every weekend. Since we live in the same neighborhood, we have barbecues together and go on trips during the weekends," Shu said. "Our relationship is much more comfortable now."

Another reason she cited for choosing separation was her desire to avoid exposing marital conflicts to her children.

She confessed, "It was very difficult when we were together. My husband nagged a lot, and I also had things bottled up inside. Above all, I never wanted to show the children the sight of their mom and dad fighting."

She added, "After starting the separation, our relationship actually became better," drawing laughter when she mentioned actor Kim Namgil.

Shu expressed her lingering affection, saying, "I am a fan of Kim Namgil, and sometimes when I look at my husband's back, he looks a little bit like Kim Namgil."

Shu married former basketball player Lim Hyo-sung and has one son and two daughters. She has garnered significant interest by sharing honest stories about her family and marital relationship through her broadcasts.
