SHINHWA's Lee Min-woo Faces Backlash for Leaving Daughters with Mother Suffering from Dementia and Depression During Honeymoon
SHINHWA's Lee Min-woo is facing criticism after leaving his two daughters with his mother, who struggles with early-stage dementia and depression, during a honeymoon.
On the 13th, during the KBS 2TV entertainment program 'Mr. House Husband Season 2', it was revealed that SHINHWA member Lee Min-woo departed for a honeymoon to Penghu, Taiwan, just two months after marrying Lee A-mi, a third-generation Korean in Japan. Following this revelation, Lee Min-woo is suddenly facing a wave of criticism.
Lee A-mi has one daughter from her previous marriage and also gave birth to a second daughter with Lee Min-woo. Consequently, the couple left both daughters in the care of Lee Min-woo's mother while they went on their trip. However, negative evaluations are being directed at the couple because it was revealed that his mother is experiencing early-stage dementia and symptoms of depression.
During the trip, Lee Min-woo had a video call with his mother in Korea. His mother appeared somewhat exhausted from looking after her two grandchildren. After asking how their first night went, she jokingly complained, saying, “Do you know how hard it is for me right now because Yang-yang (the second daughter) was suddenly born?”
While Lee Min-woo and his wife continued the conversation with laughter, some viewers pointed out after the broadcast that they were not being considerate of their mother's health condition.
Lee A-mi's desire to move into a separate household also drew attention. Lee A-mi visited a fortune teller and expressed, “I am curious about when we will be able to move out.” Even during the honeymoon, she expressed her wish to live independently, telling Lee Min-woo, “I wish we had time just for ourselves, away from traveling.”
