Actress Choi Yeon-cheong reveals elite family ties to judges and politicians
Actress Choi Yeon-cheong shares her extraordinary family background, including ties to judges and politicians, on JTBC's Knowing Bros.
Actress Choi Yeon-cheong is drawing renewed attention as her glamorous family background is revealed. Having transitioned from traditional Korean music and Miss Korea to acting, it was disclosed that she comes from a family with deep ties to the legal, political, and media sectors.

During the 539th episode of the JTBC variety show 'Knowing Bros' aired on the 8th, guests Hong Jin-Ho, Park Ji-min, Choi Yeon-cheong, and Heo Sung-beom appeared as part of the 'Blood Game X' cast.
On the show, Choi caught eyes by revealing her unique history as a former child performer playing Chunhyang and her experience as Miss Korea Jeonbuk. After majoring in traditional Korean music, she entered the entertainment industry as a model. When her career in Korea did not unfold as expected, she expanded her reach to China, making a name for herself by signing with a major local agency.
The atmosphere grew even more intense when Kim Shin-young brought up Choi's extraordinary family background.
"I heard your father is a former judge and your husband is a current judge," Kim said. "Doesn't your family also include media executives and National Assembly members?"
The cast members could not hide their surprise at Choi's glamorous lineage. As it was revealed that her family is connected to prominent figures in the legal, political, and media sectors, the label "gold spoon" naturally followed.
In response, Seo Jang Hoon drew laughter by jokingly targeting Lee Sang-min, saying, "(Sang-min) really likes that kind of background. If you had known in advance, you might have climbed a bit higher.""
However, Choi's life cannot be explained solely by her family background. After participating in the Miss Korea pageant in 2013, she made her debut as a model and subsequently ventured into China, carving out her own path as an actress and model. She also holds the distinction of being the first Korean to sign with a major Chinese agency.
She has also endured significant personal challenges. After being diagnosed with thyroid cancer in 2020, she had to suspend her activities for approximately two years before returning to the entertainment industry.
Choi married in June 2023 and welcomed a son in 2025. She currently continues her career as an actress while navigating life as a mother.
With her glamorous family ties, unique history, and the career she has built for herself, interest in Choi Yeon-cheong continues to grow.
