Hwang Chi-yeul Arrives 2 Minutes Late to Live Broadcast, "Begging Kim Hye-soo for Forgiveness"

Singer Hwang Chi-yeul broke his six-year streak of perfect punctuality by arriving two minutes late to a live broadcast. Rushing into the studio in a panic, he repeatedly bowed his head to apologize to listeners and the studio audience, even telling actress Kim Hye-soo that he would "beg for forgiveness" (seokgo-daeje), drawing laughter from the crowd.

On the 29th broadcast of SBS Power FM's "Cultwo Show," special DJ Hwang Chi-yeul experienced a mishap where he could not attend the opening due to heavy traffic.

As Hwang Chi-yeul, who is famous for strictly keeping his appointments, failed to appear, DJ Kim Tae-kyun began the broadcast alone while explaining the situation. He lightened the mood by joking, "Today's special DJ is Hwang Chi-yeul, but he says he'll be a little late because the traffic is so bad. I'm sure he's rushing here intensely, right?"

He continued to defend Hwang, saying, "He is a friend who has never been late once, so this is the first time it's happening. Please welcome him with a big round of applause when he enters. His heart must be burning inside his car."

During the broadcast, Kim Tae-kyun called Hwang Chi-yeul directly. Even in the urgent situation, Hwang answered the phone and expressed his apologies in a breathless voice, saying, "For the first time in six years, I..." He appeared so rushed that he could barely answer questions about where he was.

A moment later, Hwang Chi-yeul opened the studio door and rushed in. Arriving approximately two minutes late, he bowed 90 degrees to the studio audience and listeners, repeatedly apologizing and saying, "Thank you so much for waiting."

Kim Tae-kyun playfully scolded him, asking, "What is going on?" Hwang Chi-yeul confessed, "The Gangbyeon Expressway was so congested that I was on edge. Now, I feel like I might even get sick."

In response, Kim Tae-kyun joked, "You came wearing white clothes, but hasn't your heart burned so much that you've turned black?" Hwang Chi-yeul responded with an awkward laugh, easing the tense atmosphere.

Kim Tae-kyun boasted, "In 21 years of broadcasting, I have never been late even once," to which Hwang Chi-yeul replied, "That is truly a great achievement. It's also the first time for me in almost six years. I felt like I was practically standing up inside the car," drawing more laughter.

He could not avoid the penalty for being late. When asked to sing a verse, Hwang Chi-yeul impromptu performed his song "Song I Listen to Every Day," and finished his witty apology by changing the lyrics to, "I won't be late again, Cultwo Show."

In particular, when it was revealed that actress Kim Hye-soo, who appeared as a guest for parts 1 and 2, had arrived at the station much earlier than Hwang Chi-yeul, Kim Tae-kyun teased, "Kim Hye-soo was already here."

At this, Hwang Chi-yeul immediately said, "I will go and greet her while the song is playing," and added, "I will beg for her forgiveness," turning the studio into a sea of laughter.

Though it was only a two-minute delay, Hwang Chi-yeul's responsible attitude in apologizing and his pleasant way of handling the situation remained a happening that once again showcased his sincere character.
