Jang Yoon-jeong distressed by relentless fake news: 'I was reported to have died'

Singer Jang Yoon-jeong has opened up about the pain caused by relentless fake news and malicious rumors surrounding her.

During the summer special of the KBS 2TV entertainment program 'Stars' Top Recipe at Fun-Staurant' aired on the 30th, past moments that garnered attention were revisited. During the broadcast, Yano Shiho met with Jang to have a sincere conversation as part of a project aimed at making new friends.

Yano expressed her distress, saying, "There is so much fake news these days. There were even articles claiming I divorced Choo Sung-hoon. Aren't those words themselves incredibly sensitive?"

Jang deeply empathized, noting, "There were also so many fake news reports about me, saying 'she is divorcing' or 'she has divorced.'"

She shared even more shocking experiences, revealing, "Not long ago, I 'died' once. Articles were even released saying I had passed away, and rumors even spread that I had fallen ill."

She continued with bitter sentiment, saying, "I was worried fans would be too concerned, so I posted on SNS that day saying 'I am doing well,' but I deleted it soon after. When people are even circulating my funeral portrait, there is no way I could feel good about it."

She eventually lightened the mood with her characteristic humor, adding, "The answer is not to pay too much attention to such things. It only ruins your mental health. We are approaching menopause soon, so we shouldn't be getting stressed."

Jang has also suffered significant wounds due to family issues in the past. Controversy arose when it was revealed that her biological mother committed investment fraud worth hundreds of millions of won using Jang's name. At the time, Jang's representatives distanced her from the situation, stating, "We have been out of contact with her for nearly decades." Subsequently, her biological mother was arrested and taken to trial on charges of investment fraud.

From endless divorce and death rumors to family controversies, Jang—who has been at the center of various fake news stories for years—maintained a calm demeanor while honestly revealing the psychological toll of malicious rumors, stating simply, "It is not good for mental health."
