Kim Shin-young Says "I Love You, Professor"; Late Jeon Yu-seong Replies, "Hey, Got Anything New?"

Kim Shin-young shared a story about telling the late Jeon Yu-seong, her mentor, "I love you, Professor," and receiving his characteristically blunt reply: "Hey, got anything new?"

On the 10th, a preview for tvN variety program "You Quiz on the Block" featuring Korean comedian Kim Shin-young was released through the "You Quiz on the Tube" channel. In the clip, Kim opened up about learning only belatedly that her teacher, the late Jeon Yu-seong, had even bought books about panic disorder because of her.

Kim said she had once reduced her weight from 88 kilograms to 44 kilograms and maintained that loss for 13 years. But after experiencing a yo-yo effect, she said it took only six weeks for the weight to return. Looking back on that period, she lamented, "It felt futile." She also said she had eaten various kinds of snacks endlessly.

When Yoo Jae-suk laughed and said, "Listening to that course, even six weeks sounds short," Kim replied, "My body waited quite a long time for me."

Kim explained that the reason she began eating again was advice from the late Jeon Yu-seong. She recalled, "After taking off his oxygen respirator, he said, 'Shin-young, I want to eat jjamppong, but I can't. You should live eating everything you want to eat.' I saw him about four or five days before his death. I told him, 'Professor, I love you! I really love you.' Then he said, 'Hey, got anything new?'" Thinking back on her mentor's feelings, she added, "When I had panic disorder and wasn't doing broadcasts, how much must the professor have suffered inside?"

She continued, "It turned out that among the books the professor owned, there was a book related to panic disorder. When I heard about it, they said, 'After you developed panic disorder, the professor went all the way to Daegu to buy that book.' I found out at the funeral." Remembering the late Jeon, Kim became teary-eyed.
