Park Mi-sun hurt by 'greedy for money' comments after cancer comeback

Comedian Park Mi-sun has candidly shared the malicious comments and emotional scars she experienced while returning to broadcasting following her battle with breast cancer. Although she is a veteran entertainer who has provided laughter to the public for decades, she found herself facing unexpected criticism at the very moment she was trying to stand up again after a difficult period.

Appearing on the YouTube channel 'Kim Young Chul Original' released on the 31st, Park revealed the process of her fight against cancer and her changed feelings since her comeback.

During the broadcast, Park first mentioned how her illness became public knowledge. She stated, "It's not like I wanted to be sick. I wanted to pass through it quietly," adding, "But because Jo Hye-ryun cried so much on a broadcast, it was unintentionally revealed on a large scale."

Originally, Park wanted to treat her health issues quietly and return to her daily life. However, amidst the concern and interest of those around her, the image of being a 'sick person' was first imprinted on the public, and subsequently, unexpected reactions followed during her comeback process.

Park confessed, "There were many reactions asking why I was coming out instead of resting while being sick," and "There were eyes looking unfavorably upon the fact that I was broadcasting again."

In particular, the harshest wounds came from the crude comments of some netizens.

With teary eyes, she said, "I saw many comments like, 'Now just yield to your juniors and live comfortably,' or 'You seem like someone who is too greedy for money. Stop it now.'"

For Park, who has stood in the broadcasting field for decades, work was not simply a means to earn money. She explained the meaning of her activities, saying, "The fact that I work and that there is a place that needs me gives me the feeling that I am alive."

She further expressed her will to continue playing her role regardless of age, stating, "I think 60 is just the beginning."

Kim Young Chul, who appeared alongside Park, also expressed his sympathy for her confession.

Kim said, "Noona was not someone who used to care about comments. But after being sick, it seems she has become much more delicate."

To this, Park admitted her changed emotional state after the illness, saying, "I think my heart has definitely become weaker. I wondered what I should do."

In particular, Park also mentioned the controversy that arose during a past group purchase of health functional foods. While she was proceeding with group purchases during the process of returning to daily life after cancer treatment, some raised criticisms such as, "She is doing business while battling cancer," or "Shouldn't she be resting?"

At the time, Park explained that she was in the process of slowly returning to daily life after her treatment ended, and she also offered an apology to those who felt uncomfortable with her actions.
