Shim Hyun-seop reveals why dating was difficult before marriage

Comedian Shim Hyun-seop brought laughter to the studio by revealing an unexpected reason why he remained celibate until marriage. As a figure who received nationwide support through a dating reality show, he shared how even simple dates proved difficult due to his popularity.

On the 5th, MBN's variety show 'Dongchimi' released a preview video titled "Shim Hyun-seop, the reason he stayed pure until marriage?!" In the video, Shim began by saying, "I even filed a moving-in report, so I am now a resident of Ulsan," adding, "I am receiving so much love from the citizens of Ulsan."

He explained that while dating his partner Jeong Yeong-rim, they spent their time in Ulsan where her family resides. After marrying, they began their life as newlyweds in the city, earning him the nickname "Ulsan's Son-in-law."

Shim received intense interest and support from the public, as the couple became symbolic for being the first pair to successfully transition from a blind date on a reality show to marriage.

During the segment, he shared a ridiculous anecdote from his dating days.

"I stayed pure until before marriage," Shim stated. "We mainly dated in Ulsan, but as time passed, people started recognizing me one by one. No matter where I went, everyone was staring."

He recalled a specific moment, saying, "Once, I was standing in front of a hotel holding hands with my girlfriend, when a taxi and a car suddenly stopped and said, 'Are you going to the hotel? That's great!'"

The unexpected barrage of "support" continued. Shim revealed, "They were all watching me to cheer me on," adding, "It was so embarrassing that we eventually just got in the car and left," which turned the studio into a sea of laughter.
