Sleepy reveals why his work dried up after marriage

Rapper Sleepy has revealed the unexpected reason why his broadcasting offers dried up immediately after his marriage. He explained that because his non-celebrity wife declined a series of variety show appearance offers, opportunities for the couple to appear together naturally vanished as well.

On the 30th of last month, a video titled 'The first impression was the worst, but... the love story of the wife who turned Sleepy into a new person' was released on the YouTube channel 'Sleepy is Right.'

On this day, Sleepy looked back on his life after marriage while having a meal with his wife, Kim Na-hyun, at a hotel they visit for every anniversary.

When the production team asked, "Many people are curious about your story," Sleepy shared behind-the-scenes stories regarding the flood of broadcasting offers they received at the time of their marriage.

He revealed, "When we said we were getting married, we received about a dozen offers to appear on shows as a couple." However, he noted that Kim Na-hyun, who had no prior broadcasting experience, felt burdened by the prospect of appearing on television. Kim Na-hyun candidly admitted, "I had never done a variety show before, so it was a huge burden."

In response, Sleepy joked, "I received so many contacts from famous programs, but my wife rejected them all. After that, even the programs I wanted personally disappeared. All the work just stopped," drawing laughter from the set.

He recalled, "It was only after several years passed that we finally appeared on 'Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny' for the first time," and Kim Na-hyun also reminisced about that time, saying, "I really had to steel myself to appear."

The couple also revealed details about their dating history. Kim Na-hyun made the set burst into laughter by honestly stating that Sleepy's first impression was that he "looked like a thug."

She revealed that she couldn't easily open her heart due to his tattoos and free-spirited image, saying, "I rejected his proposal to date three times," and added, "It was even worse when he would contact me after drinking, asking why I wouldn't meet him."

Sleepy also burst into laughter, acknowledging the situation at the time. However, as time passed, his impression changed completely.

Kim Na-hyun expressed her affection, saying, "As I kept meeting him, I realized he was a truly kind person. I had a strong desire to take care of him, and he treated me really well while we were dating."

Sleepy joked, "I get asked a lot why I got married, and the answer I hear most often is 'because I felt sorry for him,'" to which his wife laughed and replied, "He was cute, but I felt like I had to take care of him."

Kim Na-hyun also mentioned Sleepy's drinking habits as her most difficult memory before marriage.

She said, "If I couldn't reach him, I would ask him to send a photo," and added, "There were times I searched all over downtown Seoul just by looking at a single sign in a photo."

She further surprised everyone by revealing, "I once found my husband collapsed on the street, and he had a torn ligament, so I had to take him to the emergency room."

To this, Sleepy remarked, "I realized I couldn't fix the habit," and added, "So I decided to quit drinking altogether." He added that he is currently maintaining sobriety for the sake of his family.

Sleepy married Kim Na-hyun, who is eight years younger, in 2022, and they have one son and one daughter.
