The Netflix original historical drama “Good Bye My Princess” has climbed to the top of domestic series charts, generating explosive buzz immediately after its release. Despite controversies surrounding the acting tones of some cast members, viewership momentum remains strong, with the series surpassing the SBS drama “Agent Kim Reactivated,” which is currently maintaining a peak viewership rating in the 23% range.

Released on the 17th, “Good Bye My Princess” rose to #1 on Netflix's domestic TOP10 series list just one day later on the 18th, maintaining its top position for three consecutive days. “Good Bye My Princess” follows Gu-cheon (Nam Joo Hyuk), who possesses the ability to traverse the spirit world, and Saeng-gang (Roh Yoon-seo), a court lady who can hear the voices of ghosts. Under the command of King Lee Yeon (Cho Seung-woo), they track the secret of a curse dwelling within the East Palace.

In response, Nam Joo Hyuk addressed the matter directly in an interview on the 21st.

He explained, “I felt that if Gu-cheon had used a heavy, traditional tone like other characters, it would not have suited ‘Good Bye My Princess.’ I chose a more realistic way of speaking, imagining a character who doesn't quite fit the palace setting living within it.”

He continued, “I am aware that opinions are divided. I believe I should accept good evaluations gratefully, and also accept disappointing evaluations as an actor.”

Rather than avoiding the controversy, he chose to explain his character interpretation and showed a willingness to accept diverse feedback.
