SeeYa’s Nam Gyu-ri Says Three Male Celebrities Once Asked Her Out Around Her Birthday: “They’re All Famous Now”
Former SeeYa member Nam Gyu-ri recalled on Lee Yong-jin’s YouTube show that three male celebrities once used her birthday to ask her out.
Nam Gyu-ri, the singer and actress who first became known as a member of the girl group SeeYa, opened up about a past dating episode on June 11 during the lie detector segment “True Man Show” on the YouTube variety program “Ipman Yeolmyeon,” hosted by comedian Lee Yong-jin.

Looking back on something that happened around one of her birthdays, Nam said three male celebrities contacted her under the pretext of congratulating her. “Three male celebrities reached out to say happy birthday,” she recalled. “Using my birthday as an excuse, they asked me out on dates. Some came all the way to my company, and some came to the front of my home.”
Nam added that the approaches were not limited to simple messages. She said some of the men made songs for her, while another prepared an event for her in a car. She also revealed that one person bought her an extremely expensive luxury item, but she sent it back.
Lee Yong-jin pressed her for details as he tried to verify the story, asking whether there had been a famous singer among the three men. Nam first answered, “There were many,” then appeared flustered and corrected herself, saying, “There were a few.”
When Lee asked whether a famous actor had been among them, Nam replied that there had been. Asked whether she had ever considered dating any of the three suitors, she said she had not. “Back then, I was too absorbed in work,” she explained. “Nothing was fun for me except work. It is the same as now.” Nam made clear that at the time she had little interest in dating and was focused almost entirely on her career.
She also shared a brief update on the three men, without naming them. “They are living well,” Nam said. “They have succeeded, too. They have become famous people.”
Born in 1985, Nam Gyu-ri debuted in 2006 as a member of SeeYa, a girl group known for hit songs including “Scent of a Woman” and “Love’s Greeting.” She later moved into acting and appeared in dramas such as “49 Days,” “Children of Nobody” and “Kairos.”
After spending time on their own paths, the members of SeeYa have recently reunited as a full group and are continuing activities together.
