Kwak Tube Misidentified as Crypto Scammer Due to Photo Theft

Travel YouTuber and entertainer Kwak Tube (real name Kwak Joon-bin) has lamented the significant damage caused by an absurd case of photo theft. He has found himself in an unfair situation, facing criticism from overseas investors after being linked to a virtual asset project that recently suffered massive losses.

On the 17th, Kwak Tube posted an explanation in both English and Korean on his SNS. He wrote, “I’m a YouTuber from Korea, never even tried coins. He stole my picture.”

He continued with a reaction of disbelief and absurdity, stating, “I never thought I’d experience being victimized by a crypto scam through photo theft. I don't make that coin. Of all people, it had to be a Mr. Kwak.”

The controversy began when the virtual asset project 'Humanity Protocol' suffered a large-scale hacking incident. Following the hacking, the price of the tokens issued by this project plummeted. Subsequently, the SNS account of the founder, Terence Kwok, drew attention as his profile picture was suddenly changed to Kwak Tube's photo, leading to the unwarranted criticism against Kwak Tube.

Kwak Tube was put in a difficult position when some overseas investors and crypto-related influencers shared the misplaced photo of him, introducing him as a "person involved in the scam case" without properly verifying the facts.

Previously, on the 13th, Kwak Tube had posted an apology following criticism regarding comments about Arsenal in a video of him watching the World Cup in person. In April, he also faced backlash over a sponsorship controversy involving a postpartum care center, eventually bearing the full cost of the sponsorship himself.
