Lee Hyun-yi's unexpected Samsung Electronics investment
Model Lee Hyun-yi reveals she has held 100 shares of Samsung Electronics since buying them at 59,000 won, simply because she forgot she owned them.
Model Lee Hyun-yi caused a stir in the studio by revealing that she purchased approximately 100 shares of Samsung Electronics at 59,000 won and has held onto them ever since. She did not dive into stock investing actively, nor did she have any special strategy. When Lee shared her unexpected secret to long-term holding—that she "bought them and forgot about them"—the cast burst into laughter, calling her a "true winner."

In the 452nd episode of SBS's "Same Bed, Different Dreams 2: You Are My Destiny," which aired on the 18th, a conversation about stock investing broke out among the cast after actor Lim Hyun-tae revealed he had recorded a 900% return on his investments.
During the episode, Seo Jang-hoon mentioned Hong Seong-gi, Lee's husband, who works at Samsung Electronics. Seo asked, "Does Manager Hong, Lee Hyun-yi's husband who works at Samsung Electronics, hold any Samsung Electronics stock?"
Lee replied, "As far as I know, he doesn't."
However, she immediately revealed her own investment history.
"But I bought mine at 59,000 won," Lee said. "I didn't sell. I bought them and forgot about them."
Despite her husband being an employee at Samsung Electronics, she had actually purchased and held Samsung Electronics shares herself.
The scale of her investment was approximately 100 shares. Lee explained, "I didn't buy many. I have about 100 shares."
Hearing this, Lady Jane marveled, "You are a true winner." Kim Sook also drew laughter by commenting on Lee's unexpected long-term holding method, saying, "I guess you have to forget about them to become a Tazza."
Rather than intentionally executing a so-called long-term holding strategy, Lee's investment method was closer to simply forgetting the fact that she had purchased the shares. However, it drew the cast's attention because, as a result, she ended up holding the stocks for a significant period without being swayed by short-term fluctuations in stock prices.
In particular, the fact that the purchase price Lee revealed was 59,000 won also caught eyes. Based on her explanation of buying approximately 100 shares, a simple calculation puts the initial investment principal at around 5.9 million won.
The conversation about stocks naturally transitioned into the professional life of Lee's husband, Hong Seong-gi.
Seo Jang-hoon mentioned Hong's performance bonuses, asking, "Doesn't Manager Hong receive his performance bonus this time?"
To this, Lee replied, "I don't know because he is at school right now. I think they are still in negotiations."
It was reported that Hong is pursuing a master's degree as part of his corporate training at Samsung Electronics. When Song Jin-woo reacted by saying, "I misunderstood because you said he went to school. I was surprised," laughter broke out.
Kim Sook clarified the situation, explaining, "It's not 'that' kind of school; it's a real school for learning located in the United States."
Ultimately, the biggest point of interest in the broadcast was not a grand story of investment success. It was Lee's method of holding stocks, where she claimed she "forgot and didn't sell" without presenting any investment strategy.
As this unintentional long-term holding was introduced as an unexpected investment case, attention is also gathering on what results Lee's 100 shares of Samsung Electronics will yield in the future.
