Trot singer Park Ji-hyun reveals past as 'Mokpo Knife Master'

Trot singer Park Ji-hyun is set to reveal a surprising past as the 'Mokpo Knife Master,' a persona entirely different from his glamorous stage image.

On the 29th, the MBC entertainment show 'Radio Star' will feature a 'Miracle Las' special starring Yoon Mira, Kangnam, Han Da-gam, and Park Ji-hyun. During the broadcast, Park is expected to captivate the studio by sharing the unique experiences and hidden talents he developed while helping support his family's livelihood before his debut.

Park revealed that before his 2023 debut as a trot singer, he helped with his parents' seafood business by processing skate fish. Having processed more than 60,000 skate fish over approximately six years, he expressed his confidence, saying, "I feel like I could process skate fish even with my eyes closed."

Furthermore, he will surprise viewers by attempting a live demonstration of processing skate fish while wearing a blindfold. The moment will showcase his side as a "life-hardened artisan" forged through years of hands-on experience rather than just an ordinary singer.

On this broadcast, Park will also reveal how his life has changed since becoming the runner-up on 'Mr. Trot 2.'

He shared his busy daily life, traveling across the country from Mokpo to Samcheok to handle more than 20 events a month. He also updated fans on his status as a trending trot singer, balancing nationwide tour concerts and drama OST work.

In particular, he will offer a candid confession regarding the changes he feels on stage.

"It is still amazing to me when I come down mid-performance to change clothes and see several staff members rushing toward me," Park confessed. "Looking at my reflection in the full-length mirror, I think to myself, 'I feel like I've truly become a celebrity.'"

He also showed unique confidence regarding his popularity in his hometown, Mokpo. Recalling his time on the competition program, he joked, "It was just all me. I thought it was my own country," and when asked who the most popular person in Mokpo is currently, he caused laughter by unhesitatingly picking himself.

In addition, Park is expected to display diverse charms, including a dance song medley from his nationwide tour, a quiz featuring self-composed songs created from unique inspirations, and double-unders using the boxing skills he has trained for 10 years.

Born in 1995, Park made his name known to the public by taking 2nd place in the final of 'Mr. Trot 2.' His reversal life story—growing from a young man at a fishery site processing skate fish to a trot star roaming stages nationwide—will be revealed on MBC's 'Radio Star' airing on the night of the 29th.
