Kim Ki Ri and Moon Ji-in Apologize Following Controversy Over Fragile X Syndrome Genetic Test Disclosure
Actress Moon Ji-in apologizes after her YouTube video regarding Fragile X syndrome genetic testing sparked backlash from viewers.
Actress Moon Ji-in has apologized after facing criticism from some viewers following her disclosure of the genetic testing process she underwent before childbirth.

On the 12th, Moon Ji-in revealed the process of Fragile X syndrome genetic testing through the YouTube channel she operates with her husband, comedian Kim Ki Ri.
Moon Ji-in explained the reason for the test, stating that she was advised by her doctor to undergo testing due to a family history involving a younger brother with a developmental disability. Since the fetus is a boy, she received medical advice to check the possibility of genetic inheritance related to Fragile X syndrome.
Moon Ji-in confessed to feeling anxious while waiting for the test results, saying, “I was quite shocked to hear there was a 25% probability.”
Fortunately, the test results came back normal. She shed tears of relief after confirming the results.
However, following the release of the video, some netizens pointed out that Moon Ji-in's process of worrying about genetic possibility and feeling relieved by the results could be hurtful to those who have family members with developmental disabilities, expressing discomfort.
As the controversy continued, Moon Ji-in apologized, saying, “I understand the probability is almost non-existent. My intention was also to share information upon learning that a test for Fragile X syndrome exists. In my startled state, I think I caused discomfort while explaining. Although I said I would explain sufficiently in the video, it seems I fell short. I am sorry.”
Moon Ji-in and Kim Ki Ri married in 2024 and recently announced their pregnancy. The expected due date is this August.
