Ahn Sun-young defends Harisu against rude comedian's joke

Broadcaster Ahn Sun-young revealed an anecdote in which she felt fury on behalf of her close former colleague Harisu due to a rude joke.

On the 7th, a video titled 'Honest confessions from the peak of fame to scandals, divorce, and post-gender reassignment surgery! "Please stop the groundless rumors"' was released on Ahn Sun-young's YouTube Channel, 'Ahn Sun-young's Double Life.' In the video, Harisu appeared and spoke candidly about her broadcasting activities in the early 2000s.

The two recalled becoming close while appearing together on various variety shows at the time. Harisu shared a story of something that happened long ago at a filming site, expressing her gratitude toward Ahn.

Harisu said, "We were filming a Chuseok special. Since there were many people, there was women's ssireum (traditional wrestling) and things like that, and a male comedian I was somewhat close to asked, 'Did Ri-su hyung go to the military?'"

At the time, Harisu did not hear the comment directly. However, Ahn, who was nearby, heard the remark and immediately intervened.

"He said it was just a joke. You could laugh it off, but if you keep poking at someone who is hurting, it can be wounding," Harisu said. "But Sun-young firmly said, 'You shouldn't say things like that.' I heard about it later, and I was so grateful for her heart."

In response, Ahn explained the situation even more bluntly. She confessed that she had actually protested much more strongly than what she was describing now, noting that she had "softened the language" for the video.

Recalling her anger at the time, Ahn said, "Is that funny, you punk? I fought him, saying if you can't say it to someone's face, don't talk nonsense behind their back. I told him if he ever said that kind of thing again, I wouldn't let it slide."

Rather than letting the comment, which used Harisu as a subject for laughter, pass as a simple joke, Ahn immediately raised the issue. The fact that she stepped in to draw the line even when Harisu did not hear it directly highlights the deep friendship between the two.

Harisu also remembered the incident even after all these years. She expressed her gratitude toward Ahn for speaking up on her behalf during a moment when it would have been difficult for her to protest directly.

In the video, Harisu spoke honestly about her life, including various rumors that surfaced during her past broadcasting activities, her gender reassignment surgery, and her marriage and divorce, sharing stories that had not been made public until now.
