Lee Hyori: "I thought they would break up" as extreme couple chooses love on 'Love War'

In the 7th episode of the JTBC variety show 'Love War' released on the 4th, the realistic dating struggles of the Kim Do-hoon and Yeom Da-hee couple, who are experiencing 'conflict over male friends,' were revealed.

The biggest problem between the two was not a simple difference in personality. The very way they viewed the same situation was different. Meeting at opposite extremes, the two had distinct beliefs and values, and they could not easily find common ground even on sensitive topics like politics and religion.

However, the man acknowledged the difference, saying, "It is something that can vary from person to person," and believed that a difference in values should not necessarily lead to a breakup.

Yet, there was another spark of conflict between the two: the issue of 'male friends.'

Kim confessed to his girlfriend, Yeom Da-hee, that he feels anxious because she has many male friends. On the other hand, Yeom maintained the position that she cannot cut off all the long-standing relationships she has built just because of a partner.

Neither of them would back down easily on this particular issue.

Lee Hyori suggested a realistic solution to Kim, asking, "Why don't you try getting to know Yeom Da-hee's male friends personally?" However, Kim made his standards clear, stating, "I believe men and women clearly cannot be just friends."

Seo Jang Hoon also pointed out the difficulty of the conflict, noting, "It seems difficult to date someone who insists on the male friend issue until the very end."

Kim expressed his frustration, saying, "I don't think it's right to ask me to cut off my relationships just because she doesn't like them." Conversely, Yeom revealed her efforts, stating, "Since meeting Do-hoon, I haven't even met the male friends I used to see for a long time."

Finally, the time for a choice arrived.

Lee expressed concern for their relationship, saying, "It doesn't actually seem like the two of them came here to break up. But watching the process of them negotiating makes me feel uneasy."

In the moment before the final choice, Kim appeared deeply wounded and conflicted, but he chose to continue the relationship instead of breaking up. Yeom made the same choice.

Watching this, Lee applauded, saying, "I didn't think they would both show up, so I'm relieved."

Yeom shed tears, saying, "To be honest, I don't even meet my male friends. I meet them maybe once a year at most." While the misunderstandings and wounds accumulated between them were as large as the conflict itself, love still remained between the two.

Through this episode, 'Love War' posed a realistic question: what is important in a relationship is not a perfect alignment of values, but how one understands and coordinates different points. It was a moment that showed that love is not maintained only between people who think the same, but is tested through the process of accepting differences.
