Yu Hye-ju: My father left behind the name Yoo Gun

Influencer Yu Hye-ju broke into tears while sharing the heartbreaking story of losing her father just four days after giving birth to her second son.

On the 30th, a video titled "D-13 from childbirth, our story that had paused for a moment" was released on the YouTube channel 'LIJULIKE'. In the video, Yu calmly shared her recent status after briefly leaving the postpartum care center to attend her father's funeral.

"I have returned to the postpartum care center. We finished my father's funeral well and laid him to rest in a good place," she said, opening up cautiously. "Many people worried and offered condolences, but my father has departed for heaven."

Yu revealed that her father had been undergoing long-term chemotherapy after being diagnosed with rectal cancer six years ago.

While the rectal cancer itself was treated, the cancer metastasized to the pelvis. Despite changing treatment methods and chemotherapy drugs several times, his condition ultimately failed to improve. She shared, "Because he underwent chemotherapy for so long, he reached a state where it was difficult to continue treatment. After moving through the cancer center and hospital wards, he spent about a month in hospice before passing away."

Though it was a difficult time, she said it was a time without regrets for the family.

Yu recalled, "After my father was diagnosed with cancer, the family actually gathered in Busan more frequently. In that process, we healed the wounds we had built up, forgave each other, and spent a lot of time together."

She continued, "My father even used to say, 'I am happiest right now.' Because I saw him suffering so much from his illness, a part of my heart feels at peace knowing he is now free from that pain."

However, she eventually shed the tears she had been holding back, saying, "The greatest feeling now is the longing because I can no longer see my father."

The sadness was even greater as it happened immediately after childbirth.

Yu revealed, "We decided on the name 'Yoo Gun' for the second child. I already had it in mind, but my father said, 'Yoo Gun is a pretty name,' so we decided on it just as he said."

However, her father was unable to hold his newborn grandson in his arms.

She added to the heavy atmosphere, saying, "While he was in the hospital, my siblings sent him photos and videos of the birth, and my father passed away after seeing those photos and videos."

Yu, who is currently recovering in the postpartum care center, expressed her gratitude to those who supported her.

"Every single comment was a huge comfort. Thank you for worrying and cheering for me as if you were family," she said. "Now, I will return to my daily life, raise Yujun and Yoo Gun well, and live while protecting our family well, just as my father wished."

Meanwhile, Yu first gained recognition through 'Ulzzang Generation 5' in 2011 and had her first son after getting married in 2019. She gave birth to her second son on the 19th, but suffered the loss of her father on the 23rd, just four days later. She previously announced that she would temporarily suspend her YouTube activities to spend time with her family.
