Choi Soo-jong reveals secret to youthful looks in his 60s

Actor Choi Soo-jong has revealed his philosophy of consistent self-management, citing "self-restraint" as the secret to maintaining his youthful appearance even in his 60s.

Appearing on the KBS1 show "Morning Forum" broadcast on the 28th, Choi shared updates on his recent life and spoke candidly about how he has been able to maintain his consistent look for such a long time.

Upon seeing Choi, the MCs poured out admiration, saying, "You look exactly the same as before," and "You really have a youthful face." Comedian Jung Tae-ho, who also appeared, drew laughter by joking, "I almost spoke to you informally the moment I saw you."

During the broadcast, Choi's actual age also became a hot topic.

Born in 1962, he is one year older than Lee Man-gi, a former wrestler turned broadcaster and professor, two years older than actor Woo Hyun, and five years older than actor Song Kang-ho. He is the same age as comedian Choi Yang-rak.

In response, Choi brought laughter to the studio by revealing, "When we meet in private, I call Mr. Lee Man-gi 'Professor Lee,' and Mr. Lee Man-gi calls me 'Hyung-nim' (older brother). As for Mr. Choi Yang-rak, we are friends, so we speak comfortably."

When asked about the secret to his youthful looks, Choi chose "self-restraint" without a moment's hesitation.

"Whenever my juniors ask me for the secret, I always tell them it is restraint," he said. "There are many things I want to eat and many times I want to go out and play, but because the profession of an actor requires constantly memorizing lines and preparing for acting, I try to manage myself."

He added, "I exercise steadily, and I read many scripts and books. I also tend to be quite picky about the food I eat."

He explained that it is not just about managing his appearance, but rather the restraint in his overall lifestyle that serves as the driving force behind his current health and youthful looks.

Choi, who made his debut in the 1987 KBS drama "The Tree Where Love Blossoms," has established himself as a representative actor of the Republic of Korea, leaving behind numerous representative works such as "Pilot," "Jealousy," "Sons and Daughters," "Emperor Wang Gun," "The King Dae Joyoung," and "Korea-Khitan War."

In particular, he has been recognized for his consistent acting skills and public popularity, having won the KBS Drama Awards four times.

Choi married actress Ha Hee-ra in 1993 and has one son and one daughter. He is currently continuing his active career by appearing on the stage in the play "Oedipus."
